Romania: An unusual group of gold rings was discovered in a tomb dating back to the Copper Age
Archaeologists in Romania have discovered an unusual set of gold rings hanging from a woman's head inside a tomb more than 6,500 years old.
The tomb dates back to the Copper Age, and within it were found 169 gold rings, 800 bone beads, and a spirally decorated copper bracelet, according to the research team of the Ţării Crişurilor Museum in Oradea, Romania.
Scientists believe that the woman belongs to the elite of society due to the amount of gold buried with her and the condition of her corpse, which indicates that she was tall and well-fed, and that the good condition of her teeth provided more evidence that she enjoyed a comfortable financial position.

The researchers described this discovery as exceptional, considering that "such a treasure no longer exists in Central and Eastern Europe."
The museum wants to learn more about this woman buried with her treasures, to determine what kind of culture she belongs to, and whether the rings were made of gold from the Transylvanian archipelago.
