A Titanic-sized asteroid will pass Earth
A Titanic-sized asteroid will pass Earth 1-536
According to NASA's asteroid tracking system, a colossal asteroid, the size of the Titanic, is about to pass Earth.
Asteroids very often pass in front of the Earth. But don't be afraid! NASA keeps an eye on each of them and analyzes them to see which ones could be potentially dangerous . Does this latest asteroid pose a !threat? That's what we're going to find out

The size of the Titanic
As reported by The Jerusalem Post, the asteroid passing Earth today is called 2012 BV13 according to the Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).
A Titanic-sized asteroid will pass Earth 1-537
The asteroid has a diameter between 100 and 220 meters. For the record, the infamous ship that sank in 1912 measured 269 meters . The asteroid is therefore slightly smaller than the Titanic.
?What makes this asteroid interesting
Not all asteroids are the same, which makes sense given the expanse of space. 2012 BV13 is, in this respect, particularly interesting ?because it is an Aton class meteorite, but what does that mean
According to the Jerusalem Post , an Aton -class asteroid is currently orbiting the Sun. Those designated by the term “Aton” designate those who will cross the earth's orbit . It is currently located between the Earth and the Sun.
?How close will it approach Earth
Now for the most important question: how close will asteroid 2012 BV13 be to Earth? Well, according to NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory , asteroid 2012 BV13 will make its closest approach to Earth at a distance of 4,660,000 kilometers .

Seen like that, it certainly does not seem so close. However, given the extent of the space, it's the next door! Fortunately for us, these 4 million kilometers remain a solid shield for the little humans that we are.
