Amidst the astonishment of scientists.. rocks made of plastic were found in Brazil 1-876
A group of scientists found rocks made of plastic debris on a remote island in South America called Trinidad Island. The interesting thing is that this island was uninhabited due to its natural characteristics, as it is a volcanic island located off the eastern coast of Brazil .
After excavation and study of the origins of this plastic debris , scientists attributed the reason for its formation to the remnants of fishing nets that left their mark on the island , so that the melted plastic became intertwined and hard as rocks. Although the island is not inhabited by humans, the real danger remains related to green turtles, since the island remains their home. It serves as a nature reserve for green turtles .
Plastic rocks
According to what was mentioned on the bbc.co.uk website, scientists were keen to conduct more than one test to find out the type of plastic that was excavated in the rocks, so that it became clear to them that the rocks were made of a mixture between sedimentary granules and other debris cohesive to each other to show the plastic that was found. in its final form.

Fernanda Avelar Santos, a geologist at the Federal University of Paraná, Brazil, and one of the team that participated in the study, said that the plastic pollution deposited on the island of Trinidad has its origin in the effects of fishing nets, which are known to be common debris on beaches in South America.
Regarding the reason for the formation of rocks as a result of fishing nets, she explained, "The accumulation of nets on the beaches is due to the sea currents sweeping them away, and with the rise in air temperatures, the plastic melts automatically and becomes embedded in the natural beach material."
And the geologist at the Federal University of Parana continued, expressing her fear of these remnants, especially since they have become a geological material, which will be preserved in the geological records of the earth, that is, it will be among its formative characteristics.

And by highlighting the island of Trinidad, it is one of the most prominent and important sites that are home to protect green turtles around the world, as it attracts thousands of them every year to lay their eggs.
