Today, Tuesday in Rabat, the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture celebrated the International Poetry Day, which falls on March 21 of each year, in the presence of a group of poets and researchers at the Institute.

The celebration of this day aims to consolidate the culture of recognition, by honoring a number of poets and organizing a poetry evening marked by reciting poems in the Amazigh language.

In this context, Rachid Laghranati recited two poems tagged with “Akchouz n Tamakit” (The Pillar of Identity), in addition to Tamdenet Amutn (The Dead City), while Khadija Akugil participated in this ceremony with the poem Al-Donit (The World) and Timozga Doyor (The Amazigh and the Moon). As for Fatima Faras, she celebrated three poems, namely Ana (my mother), Urkekh (I am not), and Adam Nonet (your face).

During this poetry evening, creative poets Ahmed Ben Yahya, Benaissa Belmokadem, Yato Boudhin, Saeed Hajjij, Bahi Basu, Ijah and Nashir were also honored.

On this occasion, the director of the Center for Artistic Studies, Literary Expressions and Audiovisual Production at the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture, Ahmed El Menadi, said in a statement to the Amazigh portal, MAP, that the institute takes advantage of the International Poetry Day to honor a number of poets who have given a lot in the field of Amazigh poetry, and to encourage a number of Young energies interested in Amazigh poetry.

Mr. Al-Munadi recorded that Amazigh poetic creativity has witnessed a remarkable development compared to the nineties and the beginning of the millennium, highlighting in this regard the efforts made by the Institute to encourage male and female creators, as well as the Ministry of Culture within the framework of the Amazigh Poetic Creativity Prize.

On the other hand, the honorees expressed their gratitude to the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture for this honor, which is the culmination of a long track in the service of the Amazigh language and culture in particular, and Moroccan culture in general.
