Yesterday evening, Monday 01/05/2023, in M’Hamid El Ghizlan, the activities of the eighteenth session of the International Nomad Festival were concluded, to the musical rhythms of Moroccan youth bands, who presented musical paintings to the residents of the region.
The audience of M’Hamid El Ghizlane and tourists were given the opportunity to enjoy songs from the traditional Amazigh heritage and instrumentals from North Africa performed by the “Taroua Ntiniri” band from the city of Ouarzazate, mixed with the art of jazz, reggae, ghanawa and blues.
Subsequently, the “Paper Band” group ascended the stage, dazzling the audience with contemporary desert songs performed by its five members from the metropolis of El-Ayoun, and the artistic evening concluded with a performance by the artist Younes Al-Boulmani, from the city of Erfoud.

In a speech on the occasion, the director of the festival, Noureddine Boukrab, confirmed to MAP that, like the previous editions, this session shed light on the traditions and activities of nomads, which are an integral part of their culture, highlighting that the goal was to “delight thousands of visitors from all over the world.” the world and discover an authentic and immersive experience in the heart of desert culture.”
He added that thanks to the efforts of the youth of this “good town,” this region, rich in its history and authentic desert nature, was presented, pointing out that culture is the wealth of this region that must be invested in and preserved, revived and valued through scientific research, cultural marketing and tourism offer.
It was recorded that the current session was distinguished by the hosting of a number of artists and musicians who presented the audience with a “rich and varied” program, such as the Lebanese singer Jahida Wahba, the “Taroa N-Teneri” band, the “Africa Vision” group from Senegal, Burkina Faso and Ghana, and the popular artist Younes Bolmani, And a number of other talents.

With regard to customs and traditions, Mr. Boukrab pointed out that sand bread or “mullah” was one of the main activities of the festival, as the “blue men” worked to transfer their knowledge and the skill of their ancestors in preparing this “very special” bread.
On the sports level, the same speaker adds, a camel race and a sand hockey match were organized.
He added that this year's session also celebrated the art of storytelling, as the festival's audience enjoyed storytelling performances by personalities from France, Mali and Morocco, who "traveled with us through stories and anecdotes in the spaces of the desert."
The director of the International Festival of Nomads concluded that this event has become an opportunity for all lovers of the desert, art and nomads to travel to discover the richness of the region, the diversity of its qualifications and the hospitality of its people.
