For his part, Michel Perron emphasized that his interest in the Amazigh language and culture is due to two main reasons, first of all his past as a traveler, which led him to the paths of the Middle and High Atlas and to meet the mountainous inhabitants.
As for the second reason, Peron explains, it is represented in his reading of one of the books of General Guillaume, which included a novel centered on the European self in its presentation of the Amazigh culture, which prompted him to explore specialized writings on the subject and conduct research in order to identify this culture from a local point of view.

For this purpose, Peron adds, “I learned the language and studied Amazigh oral literature in its components of prose and poetry, and memorized a group of songs, which were steps that yielded fruits as I wrote the first book on poetry in the Amazigh language “Isafen Ghabanin” (The Deep Valleys) (1993). ), then followed by a group of other articles and then wrote the author “The Amazighs of Morocco: A History of Resistance (2020).”
Perron considered that his research is mainly practical and requires a great involvement in the field, recalling that his passion for Amazigh culture and language led him to teach the history of Amazigh culture at Al Akhawayn University (2001-2009), as well as his supervision of translation lessons from Amazigh into French at the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences in Rabat.
