Moha Mukhlis: The presence of Amazigh writers at the International Publishing Exhibition contributes to the consecration of cultural diversity
The head of the External Communication Department at the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture, Mohamed Mokhles, considered that the presence of the Amazigh book at the International Publishing and Book Fair confirms the importance it has in devoting cultural diversity, expressing his hope that this show will expand further in the coming years.
Mokhles explained that the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture highlighted this importance during its participation in the 28th session of the exhibition organized under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI from 01 to 11 June in Rabat, where it chose as its motto “the advancement of the Amazigh book from the levers of cultural diversity.”
After mentioning the importance of the Amazigh book as a tool for codifying a mainly oral Amazigh culture and enriching the cultural diversity in Morocco, Mukhlis indicated that the Amazigh book suffers from problems in publishing and distribution.
He added that the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture provides annual assistance for production and creativity in the Amazigh language within the limits of 30 or 40 books per year, according to requests, considering that the exhibition is an occasion to display a group of the Institute's publications, which have reached nearly 500 publications since its inception.
He recorded that a strategy should be established that aims, in particular, to program some novels, plays, and poetry collections at the university level in the wires of the “Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the Amazigh language,” as is the case in teaching novels such as “The Box of Wonders” by Ahmed Sefrioui and “Harouda” by Taher Ben Jelloun.
He called for encouraging the acquisition of Amazigh books from the treasuries of municipalities and groups, as they are “young books” and must be promoted and rehabilitated.
