Target hosts the first edition of the Cedar Mountain Heritage Festival
The Regional Directorate of Culture in Al Hoceima and the Ajyal Al Rif Association for Culture and Social Works, in coordination with the Sanhaja Rif Tribes Association for Development and Culture in Targuist and a group of civil society events, are organizing the first session of the Cedars Festival for Mountain Heritage in the city of Targuist, during the period from August 24 to 26, 2023, under Slogan “Tangible and intangible heritage at the service of local development.”
The festival is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Communication - Culture Sector, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Region, Prefecture of Al Hoceima Province, Target Community, Regional Council, Regional Association for the Support of Proximity Activities in Al Hoceima Province, Moroccan Office for Authors' Rights, and other partners.
The festival aims to promote mountain folklore, enrich and develop the mountainous Aita and the Moroccan rural song, and promote it at the national and international levels, while establishing permanent communication and creating opportunities for exchanging experiences and interaction between young artists.
The program of the course includes a variety of artistic and cultural activities, including an artistic evening by the Al-Mukhtar Al-Janhi Orchestra of the Mountain Tatuqa, the Tidghin Ensemble of the Mountain Al-Aita, the Samir Al-Arousi Ensemble of the Mountain Tatuqa, and folklore performances by the Sanhaja Troupe from Target, and the Sheikh Issa Boys Ensemble from Imzorn. A thematic session will also be held on cultural industries, as one of the main foundations for development, and discussing challenges and opportunities.
These activities will be held at the platform of Mohammed VI Square in the city of Target, and in the crafts hall. In conjunction with the festival's activities, Target Square will host an open exhibition of plastic art and traditional local and regional industrial products.
