The fact that the James Webb Telescope captured a picture of a hot dog star
Etienne Klein, a French physicist, sparked widespread controversy over a photo he published that he said was taken from a new NASA space telescope.
Klein posted a tweet on his Twitter account, in which he said it was the latest stunning image from the advanced James Webb Space Telescope of the star “Proxima Centauri.”
The British Daily Mail newspaper said that the image appears to be a cosmic red ball, full of glowing solar storms, confirming that it was in fact a piece of sausage.
The French physicist apologized for the photo to his followers, saying that he felt forced to clarify that this tweet showing an alleged snapshot of the star "Proxima Centauri" was a kind of entertainment.
He explained that his goal with this photo was simply to encourage people to question, and not automatically accept what is offered to them through social media.
