The Ibn Rushd Prize for Harmony was awarded to the Moroccan writer Abdelkader Chaoui and the Cervantes Institute network in Morocco, in recognition of their efforts in promoting coexistence and dialogue between cultures, as announced by the organizers of this award. The award will be presented to Abdelkader Al-Chaoui and the director of the Cervantes Institute, Luis Garcia Montero, during an official ceremony that will be held at the end of May 2024 in Spain, according to what the association stated in its press release.
This honor aims to “highlight, encourage and appreciate the valuable contributions of institutional actors or individuals in promoting understanding, mutual knowledge and coexistence, as well as in promoting dialogue and defending the values of freedom, human rights, peace, tolerance, justice and environmental protection in both Morocco and Spain.”
