A precedent.. An American city recognizes the Amazigh New Year celebrations
The local authorities in the city of Somerville, Massachusetts, recognized the celebrations of the Amazigh New Year 2973.
The American Amazigh Network AANO received a document signed by the mayor of the city as an official recognition by the local authorities of the Amazigh New Year celebration in the city.
Somerville is located on the eastern side of the United States of America in the state of Massachusetts, and the American city has previously held a twinning with the city of Tiznit.
In the United States, a proclamation is a formal proclamation that publicly acknowledges an event, initiative, or celebration. Proclamations are usually signed and issued by federal officials, governors, state legislators, and mayors.
It is noteworthy that the American Amazigh Network Organization (AANO) commemorated “Metabolism in January” at the Arts Center in Bastoun, on January 14, with the participation of a group of Amazigh troupes, and the organization of a group of cultural and artistic activities, with the balanced participation of Amazigh events from various US states.
The network considered that this celebration, which has been held annually since the early 2000s in Bastogne, is a unique opportunity to learn more about the Amazigh people, their culture and history, and made presentations on the Amazigh culture and language.
