A new theory emerged about the cause of the death of the Pharaonic King Tutankhamun, as a recent report indicated that he died because of his great love for drinking wine and riding chariots on wheels, and types of them were used in wars at the time.
According to biomedical Egyptologist Sophia Aziz, the Egyptian king may have been injured as a result of driving a chariot too fast while under the influence of wine.

A major study in 2010 showed that Tutankhamun's death was caused by an open wound that had been contaminated, and his immune response was weak due to malaria. But the same research stated that he was suffering from a leg disability and needed a walking stick.
But Aziz said, in statements to the BBC, that the scholars were wrong in their diagnosis that the king was incapacitated.
"He was just like any teenager, drinking alcohol and driving too fast," she said.

She explained that the last theory indicates that he was "a fighting king - he was driving chariots," pointing out that his tomb contained a protective shield for the chest and another for the entire body.
And about the studies that indicate a deficit in his leg, Aziz said that she disagrees with them, noting that embalming operations sometimes cause distortion of the natural body and make it appear as if it had a problem like the one in Tutankhamun's leg.

It is noteworthy that the teenage king was one of the kings of the Eighteenth Dynasty and ascended the throne at the age of nine, from 1334 BC to 1325 BC, until his death at the age of eighteen or nineteen.
He was not one of the great kings and nothing was known about him before the discovery of his tomb in 1922 by the British Howard Carter, according to the BBC.

His tomb is considered one of the most important discoveries because it retains all its unique contents, unlike tombs that are subject to theft. His famous golden mask included more than 5,000 pieces inside the tomb of golden statues, jewelry, vehicles, and others.
