American deep-sea explorers found a strange, semi-circular golden object near Alaska, but it was not possible to determine what it was and it aroused the curiosity of researchers.
At the end of August, a remotely piloted robot equipped with a camera found this round object with a golden glow in a group of rocks at a depth of about 3,300 metres, about 10 centimeters in diameter.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which is conducting this research, stated in a memorandum that scientists “were confused about determining the nature of this object while the cameras were zooming in on its image, and their first guesses ranged from the possibility that it was the hooks of a dead sponge, or a piece of coral.”
The team of scientists raised the unknown marine object to the ship on the surface. An outdoor photo shows a domed, slightly sagging, shiny object that can be held in the hand.
“We still cannot identify it, and all we know is that it has a biological origin,” a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration statement quoted mission coordinator Sam Candeo as saying.

He added: "She may not be able to learn more about him before conducting analyzes on him in laboratory conditions."
He believed that this discovery at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean reminds that knowledge about the planet and the oceans is still limited.
And he stressed that underwater exploration may allow the discovery of new species that may sometimes be useful in finding new medical treatments, for example.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration stated that the goal of its expedition off the coast of southern Alaska is to "map" these "unexplored areas" and to "explore and characterize" them.
