Weissensee, also known as the White Lake, is located in Carinthia at 950 meters above sea level in the middle of the Alps. It is considered the cleanest pond in the country and one of the favorite options for a holiday in Austria on the lake. The lake has an area of about 6.5 square kilometers and a depth of 99 metres. It got its name because of the unique color of the water, which is blue near the shores. The lagoon's turquoise water is often compared to the waters surrounding the Maldives. There are several resort villages nearby, offering 200 km of hiking trails and 100 km of cycling trails. During the summer months, the water becomes slightly murky due to plant pollen; However, once autumn arrives, the water becomes completely transparent and the bottom can be seen at a depth of 30 metres. Visitors can practice diving, surfing, fishing, and water skiing, and there are also places to practice beach volleyball on the beach. Visitors can also rent electric boats and rowing boats.

Mondsee is a lake near Salzburg that offers a wide range of water-related activities, including diving boards, giant slides, plenty of windsurfing, and the opportunity to canoe or rent an electric boat to enjoy the water. Lake Mondsee is 11 kilometers long and is a relatively large lake with calm blue waters. Fortunately for swimmers, this is also one of the warmest lakes in the region, with summer water temperatures reaching 27°C. The lake is located opposite Drachenwand, an imposing limestone mountain partly covered by dense forest, which attracts hikers and climbers.

The second largest natural lake in Tyrol, near the border with Germany, Plansee has an area of 2.87 square kilometers and is approximately 80 meters deep. It is often referred to as the “Fjord of Austria” for its majestic blue-green beauty, where water, mountains and forests blend together as far as the eye can see. The water here is very clear, with visibility down to approximately 15 metres, making it an ideal destination for snorkelers and divers. Sailing and surfing are also popular here in summer, and many visitors spend time hiking or cycling on the beaches. During the winter months, several trails (including the Thanler Trail) are also accessible. The lake freezes over regularly, becoming a popular ice skating rink.

It's a group of three lakes set against jagged mountains and the Dachstein Glacier rising behind them, making it the perfect day trip from Salzburg. The lake's water is so clear that the glacier can be seen from a distance underwater. Be prepared for a very cold swim, as the water temperature here rarely exceeds 19°C and can reach 17°C, even in summer. Boat rentals, canoeing and diving are available in the lakes, and the surrounding dense forest area is popular with hikers and mountaineers. There is also a fixed rope climbing route created directly above the lake for stunning views of the Dachstein River and Gosau Glacier. Along the beaches tourists will find rustic huts serving local cuisine.
