Man sends his DNA to the Moon to be cloned by aliens

Recently, an 86-year-old American hired the services of a special company to transport his DNA to the Moon. This individual actually has a rather atypical dream: to be cloned by aliens so that his clone ends up in an intergalactic zoo as a representative of the human species.
A space funeral, but not only
Taking the name of the imaginary city of the Oris in the Stargate SG-1 series, the Celestis company, created in 1994 in Houston (United States), sends the ashes of deceased people into space. Over the past thirty years, the company has carried out seventeen of these so-called commemorative space flights as part of space funerals.

Let us recall in passing that the concept of space funerals (or space burial) was first proposed by science fiction author Neil R. Jones in his novel The Jameson Satellite (1931). This same concept was later suggested in the late 1970s and first realized in the late 1990s.
It must be said that Celestis' ships have quite varied destinies. Some end up on the Moon, others orbit the Earth while some end up wandering in space and its infinity. Furthermore, the requests of the clients themselves can also vary and thus go beyond the usual framework of space funerals.
A clone to represent the human species
As explained by the New York Times in an article dated November 7, 2023, Kenneth Ohm, an 86-year-old former physics professor, has just sent his DNA to the Moon using Celestis. This American hopes that aliens will one day find his genetics and attempt cloning.

The goal of the individual's dream is for his clone to become the proud representative of the human species in an intergalactic zoo. Visibly full of humor, Kenneth Ohm also said he dreamed of being cloned a thousand times to create an army of clones that could spread across the Universe.

If his idea may seem ridiculous at first glance, you should know that in theory it is not so crazy. First, humans are learning more about cloning over time. Then, to the extent that the possibility that other intelligent civilizations exist elsewhere in the Universe is not ruled out, it is not so unusual to think that at least one of these civilizations masters cloning techniques including humans.
