Queen Ahmose Merit Amun is considered one of the most important figures in the history of ancient Egypt, she is the wife of King Thutmose III and the mother of King Amenhotep II, and she has many honorable titles such as the wife of God, the lady of the two lands, the great royal wife, the king's daughter and the king's sister. Her mummy was found in 1930 in a cemetery in Deir el-Bahari, a tomb belonging to a priest of Amun. Her mummy was kept in two inner cedar sarcophagi and an outer cardboard paste sarcophagus. It is a kind of material from which sarcophagi are made in the era of the New Empire. Her mummy was reburied after her grave was looted in earlier periods, and she probably died at a relatively young age.
The outer sarcophagus of the queen is a unique artifact, it is about three and a half meters long, and it is made of thin wooden planks that have been glued together in a delicate way, and its surface has been carved flat and decorated with gold and colors. Remarkably, the coffin's eyes and eyebrows are inlaid with stained glass, giving it vitality and beauty.
