Teflon...a celebration of land and identity
To celebrate the Amazigh New Year 2974, corresponding to the year 2024, the Tiznit community, in coordination with cultural and artistic events and a group of creatives and artists in the region, and in cooperation with the Regional Council and the prefecture of Tiznit, is organizing the activities of the second session of the “ Tifluin ” celebration during the period between January 11 and 14, 2024, under the slogan “ Tifloin... A Celebration of Land and Identity ,” similar to the remarkable success achieved by the previous session and the unparalleled interaction of the residents and visitors of the city inside and outside the country.
This session comes following the historic decision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, to declare the Amazigh New Year an official and designated national holiday, similar to the first of Muharram of the Hijri New Year and the Gregorian New Year. It also comes in the context of embodying the Mawlawi interest in the Amazigh issue, as it is A major component of the authentic, multi-stranded Moroccan identity, and a common asset for all Moroccans, it contributes to consecrating the official dimension of Amazigh culture and language.
To enhance the presence of the “ Tifluin Celebration ” within the map of specific cultural events in the region, the region, and the nation, the Tiznit community seeks to contribute to building a cultural development project that links land, language, and people, and contributes to improving the economic and territorial competitiveness of the Tiznit region, as well as strengthening its tourist and cultural attractiveness, and introducing the collective memory. The city, and the cultural, agricultural, social and traditional heritage, both through displaying a number of cultural forms and authentic arts that are open to different modern and contemporary expressions.
The celebration of land and identity also constitutes an opportunity to share elements of memory and history between individuals and groups, and an opportunity for the city’s residents and visitors to discover the cultural, symbolic and historical connotations of celebrating “Year in January ”, through deep listening to a number of aesthetic components, and artistic and cultural expressions associated with the Amazigh New Year, especially what These relate to the rituals of celebration, rooted in the popular imagination, and expressing the symbolism of the field, people, and places, in addition to the Amazigh New Year’s appearances that carry symbolic and anthropological connotations rooted in the history of Morocco and North Africa alike.
In addition to introducing the tangible and intangible heritage of the region, this celebration highlights a group of exhibitions, which include a number of equipment and mechanisms embodying the cultural practices associated with the Amazigh New Year celebration, which are rooted in the Amazigh cultural heritage, plastic arts, ancient doors, and many crafts and traditional knowledge.
In addition to spaces for local heritage arts and cultural practices associated with them, and a special pavilion for “ Emshar ” as one of the city’s well-known forms of French expression, in addition to organizing multiple artistic and photographic exhibitions, a local exhibition for the social and solidarity economy, and tasting spaces that seek to introduce various traditional foods associated with... “ Eid January ” and the “ Al-Ma’ruf ” celebration, which is considered one of the ancient customs that embodies the various values of solidarity and cooperation.
