Jendouba (from the Amazigh: Jendouba, from Jinn: market and Douba: wheat. Before 1966, it was called Wednesday Market), is a Tunisian city located in the northwest near the Algerian border and in which the headquarters of the Jendouba state is located. The city is located in the Wadi Medjerda plain, 154 km from the capital and 50 km from the Algerian border. It was called the Wednesday Market, in reference to the weekly market held in the city, before its name was changed on April 30, 1966, following a presidential order.
