Regnum Aurasium
The Kingdom of Auras, Regnum Aurasium, is an independent Amazigh kingdom. It was located mainly in the Auras, a region that includes all of northeastern Algeria. It was founded by King Mastiasen in the 1480s after a series of barbarian revolts against the occupying Vandal kingdom that invaded North Africa, succeeding the Roman occupation, in the year 435. .
Like the Moors and Romans in Altava in the west of the country, the Kingdom of the Aures combined aspects of Roman and Amazigh culture in order to effectively control a population composed of former Roman provinces and Amazigh tribes.
The Amazigh King Mastiasen used the title Dux and later Imperator to legitimize his rule and publicly declare himself a Christian.
The Eurasian Kingdom did not recognize the Byzantine Empire's sovereignty in the region, as King Judas, who succeeded Mastias, waged several wars against the Byzantines.
The Aures Kingdom existed until the Islamic conquest in 703 AD, when its last king, Queen Dehya, died.
