Title: The Unexpected Arrival of Masinissa.
According to the testimony of ancient historians such as: Polybius, Strabo, Tit Lief and others:
“Masinissa Aghlid is a great man who built the kingdom of Numidia through diplomacy and weapons, and made it a free nation in control of its own civilization. He regained the lands of his fathers and grandfathers from the Carthaginian expansion. He was credited with Numidia’s economic transformation and agricultural production, and it appeared during his reign with an appearance of majesty and prestige, capable of fulfilling its role in the Mediterranean basin.”
After the defeat of the Carthaginians on the Iberian Island, he offered his services to the Roman commander Scipio Africanus and fought alongside him in the Battle of Zama (202 BC). After the betrayal he was exposed to by Carthage, the Romans promised him the land of Numidia. With the support of the Romans, he united the eastern and western Numidian tribes to establish the Kingdom of Numidia, and brought under his authority his Masili tribe, and the Masisili tribe, which had previously belonged to Syphax. He led the Amazigh tribes, succeeding his father, Gaia.
