Can you believe that this statue dates back to the year 2700 BC!!
!!this statue dates back to the year 2700 BC 1---632
A statue of a woman made of marble, with a head made of gold and eyes studded with lapis lazuli.
It dates back to the year 2700 BC - the ancient Sumerian era!
Notice the precise sculpting of the woman’s features and the large nose that has distinguished the people of Mesopotamia since ancient times!!
In addition to the wide eyes
It appears that the head was crafted from gold separately from the statue and then added to the statue to complete its final form
Of course, unfortunately, the rest of the head and hair details are missing!
Note that marble is one of the most difficult materials that can be carved on, especially at that time. The Sumerian sculptor was creative and showed us this beauty, the details of the body, the position of the hands, and the shape of this Sumerian woman’s loose, brocade robe. The Sumerian woman appears to be in a position of worship and prayer. !!
This statue was found in the city of Nippur.
The statue is preserved in the Iraqi National Museum
