?Who was the first king in history 1---181
There are many great kings who lived in the pre-Christian period, but it is difficult for scholars to precisely determine the first king in the world.
Some historians believe that Egypt was the home of the first king in history, while others believe that the first king in the world emerged from Mesopotamia.
Some historians believe that the first king in history may have been from Egypt. King Eri Hwi or Namer may have been one of the first kings to rule the world.
But the Sumerian kings who ruled the Mesopotamian region are strong candidates to be among the first kings to rule the world.
In the early twentieth century, an ancient manuscript was discovered called the “Sumerian King List,” which talks about real and imaginary kings who ruled Mesopotamia. This manuscript is so old that its first “pages” are written on tablets dating back to the cuneiform era.
“According to a late Mesopotamian tradition enshrined in the Sumerian king list, the first king was Olulim, the ruler of Eridu,” says Eckart Frahm, professor of Near Eastern languages and civilizations at Yale University. Olulim lived in the period before the Flood and is credited (in some manuscripts) with ruling the country for 28 thousand years. According to the same source, the first king after the flood was a person called Geshur, who was said to have ruled the city of Kish for 1,200 years.
The Sumerian king list has some notable similarities to the first chapters of Genesis, including the story of the Great Flood and Noah's Ark, mentioned in the Bible.
