Orbelm (Erbil's ancient castle)
Orbelm (Erbil's ancient castle) 1---37
Scientists described it as the oldest city inhabited by humans in history, and it was first mentioned during the Sumerian era more than 5,000 years ago under the name “Urbulum.”
It is the ancient castle of Erbil, located in northern Iraq, which is one of the oldest and most famous castles in the world. It has an area of about 11,000 square meters and is 431 meters above sea level and 25 meters above ground level, and inside it are about more than 500 ancient houses.
There are significant differences in identifying the oldest cities throughout history. Differences in opinion can result from different definitions of "city" and "continuously inhabited", and historical evidence of antiquity is often disputed among historians. Some of them say that it is the Palestinian Jericho, and some of them speak of the Syrian Aleppo. Many of the cities mentioned in this article each claim that it is “the oldest city in the world.”
