Ptolemy II Philadelphus, one of the Ptolemaic kings and son of Ptolemy I, ascended the throne of Egypt in the year 285 BC. He built the Lighthouse of Alexandria, which is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and was called Pharos. Its location was on the tip of the Pharos Peninsula. It is considered the first lighthouse in the world. It was erected by Sostratus during the reign of 280 BC. It rose 120 meters and was destroyed as a result of a violent earthquake that struck Alexandria in 1303 AD.
During his time, Alexandria reached the height of its greatness, and he was keen to bring to it scholars and philosophers from all over the world. The Library of Alexandria also received great attention and was supplied with books from all over the world.
One of the most important monuments left by Anas Palace is the presence of the temple on the island of Philae.
