Some Sumerian and Akkadian words that are still used in the Iraqi dialect until now
■ Trouble: a great commotion, severe disturbance, or calamity that has befallen and whose roots go back to the Babylonians.
■ Bushiya: Niqab, an Akkadian word that means a cover.
■ Salima: An expression used by an Iraqi to refer to someone who cannot stand him, and (Salimah) in Babylonian means death or the specter of death.
■ Sickle: The tool used by harvesters. It is an Akkadian word
■ Zaqanbut: It is said in the form of a bad supplication for a person, and in Akkadian it means poison.
■ Temple: dull and lazy, a Sumerian word meaning unemployed
■ Barbog: It means lack of modesty in the Sumerian language
