A British scientist revealed the causes of the death of more than 20 people while opening the tomb of King Tutankhamun in 1922, and linked the matter to the "curse of the Pharaohs," according to the British newspaper "Daily Mail".
According to the British scientist, the cause of these deaths was due to radiation poisoning resulting from the presence of natural elements containing uranium and toxic waste that were deliberately placed inside the closed basement.
The scientist pointed out that exposure to these toxic substances can lead to various types of cancer, such as the one that claimed the life of archaeologist Howard Carter, who was the first person to enter the cemetery in more than a century.

The grave was cursed
New studies effectively prove that the tomb was biologically cursed, dispelling the supernatural notion that had circulated in some quarters, according to the newspaper.
Many of the people who participated in the excavation died a few weeks after the tomb was opened, due to blood poisoning, stroke, heart failure, radiation exposure, and infectious diseases, and some of their deaths were linked to radiation exposure.
In a related context, Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass pointed out that excavations in Pharaonic tombs require careful health precautions, especially with the presence of ancient germs that may be present inside mummies. He called for caution when opening coffins to prevent researchers from being exposed to deadly diseases.

Thus, the British discovery and the statements of the Egyptian archaeologist indicate the importance of raising awareness about the dangers of archaeological excavation and the necessity of taking the necessary precautions to protect workers in this field from exposure to health risks.
