The twelfth session of the National Festival of Arts of Ahouach-Ouarzazate, scheduled for the year 2024
Under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication - Culture Sector - is organizing, in partnership with the Ouarzazate Events Association and with the support of the workers of the Ouarzazate Province, the Draa-Tafilalet Regional Council, the Ouarzazate Regional Council, the Territorial Community of Ouarzazate, the Draa-Tafilalet Regional Tourism Council and the Council The Regional Tourism Organization of Ouarzazate, the twelfth session of the National Festival of Ahwach Arts, will take place between May 24 and 26, 2024, under the slogan “Ahwash Arts with the Rhythms of the World.”
This demonstration aims to introduce the cultural richness of the region and work to preserve and enhance the intangible heritage through openness to the regional, national and international environment.
This session is distinguished by adopting an artistic and creative vision that aims to highlight the diversity of Ahwach arts in terms of their connection to all aspects of human life on various occasions by presenting art in the various squares of Ouarzazate, where the celebratory aspects of this art will be highlighted with a scenographic conception and with a cultural, heritage and artistic load, mixing what is authentic heritage. What is contemporary is modern, by employing influences based on modern technology, in a way that prompts a dive into the rituals and collective life associated with the art of Ahwash as a cultural heritage with material and immaterial connotations.
The program of this role includes several segments of revitalization of various public squares, an intellectual symposium on the arts of Ahwash with the participation of specialized professors and researchers, and the festival will also host a “carnival” for these various arts, which will roam the streets of the city, while some well-known names will be honored that have imprinted the art of Ahwash with a distinctive imprint. In addition to a special exhibition of traditional arts and crafts, as well as thematic workshops on teaching Awash arts and tools-making techniques for the benefit of young people.
In addition to this, the twelfth session of the festival is distinguished by the honorary participation of international and national heritage groups, and it is expected to attract a large number of local residents or visitors inside and outside the country and will constitute an opportunity to highlight the important qualifications that the region abounds in the fields of heritage, tourism, cinema, oases, biodiversity and traditional industry...
For reference, the twelfth session of the National Festival of Arts of Ouarzazate is organized in coordination with a group of institutions in Ouarzazate, such as the Specialized Institute for Applied Technology, Hotels and Tourism, the Regional Delegation for the Tourism Sector, the Regional Directorate for the Youth Sector, the Regional Directorate for Traditional Industry, in addition to a group of local associations and media platforms.
It is worth noting that the arts of Ahwash are among the collective heritage arts that embody the collective joy that characterizes the cycle of social and economic life, and the festival would contribute to highlighting them and working to value them in an effort to register the arts of Ahwash within the world heritage.
