Hamza, Tamza, or Ghoula
Hamza, Tamza, or Ghoula 1----282
She is a legendary character from rural Amazigh mythology. Her name means ogre in the rural Amazigh dialect, and her husband is Amzio, which is the masculine name of Tamza, meaning ogre.
The rural people believe that Tamza has inhabited their country in very ancient times that they do not remember specifically. Tamza was a hideous-looking woman, a savage cannibal, and more dangerous than her husband, Amezio.
According to some oral narrations related to this character, they confirm that Tamza is a type of human race that has been transformed into what has become the appearance of a ghoul.
This legend is so widespread in rural areas that there may not be a rural person who has not heard or memorized a story about Tamza. They also wove stories around her by linking her to the intelligent character of Hama, who always outsmarted Tamza and eliminated her. They also named several sites after her, such as the site of Achashar n Tamza, and they also named one of the rocks after her head, which is Azrun n Tamza, meaning the Tamza Rock.
️One of the professors traced these narratives and tried to interpret them as remnants of events that took place in the distant past, and later he believed that the character of Tamza might be a remnant of the primitive Bushmen who were expelled by the Berbers south to their current homeland, according to the same researcher.
In the end, it remains just a myth created by the imagination to scare children and has no relation to reality.
