Mr. Foghali Jamal al-Din explained to WAG that the aforementioned discoveries were made by chance by a citizen who informed the municipal authorities, who in turn informed the Directorate of Culture, after which a committee was dispatched to the place to inspect the discovered stone drawings.
In a first step in order to preserve this unique historical heritage that was found - based on the same source - these finds and the site were included in the additional inventory of the state’s historical and cultural heritage, and then a photographic file was prepared and sent to the Ministry of Culture in order to present it to specialists for study and identification. Its value and historical importance.
It should be noted that in recent years, citizens and associations - such as the Al-Sawaqi Association, which specializes in the field - have discovered and found important archaeological sites and historical monuments across the state representing various civilizations and historical eras, which are currently in dire and urgent need of care and appreciation. .
The most important of these discovered archaeological and historical sites, whose discovery dates back only to recent years, as noted by Waj, is the important archaeological site in the Zemmouri Bahri region, about which the Director of Culture stated that its “interior is rich” in archaeological remains.
This site, which dates back to the “Phoenician” era, was fenced according to preliminary research and is located on an area of 7 hectares to protect it after it was registered in the state’s additional inventory list. However, to this day, it has not been taken care of and no excavations have been conducted on its level to reveal all of its esoteric contents.
The “Al-Sawaqi” Association, through its volunteer members, in the “Bani Hamida” area in the municipality of Laqta, also found another important archaeological site that includes parts of a human statue, metal sheets, and human pottery and bone remains.
In the same municipality, a citizen found parts of a statue, metal pieces, pottery remains, and human bones dating back to ancient civilizations.
In the "Ibrahimiya" area in the same municipality, when a citizen was digging, he also found more than 700 rare silver coins inside a small pottery pendant dating back to the Fatimid rule in Algeria, in a "very bad" condition due to corrosion, which led to the erasure of some of the prominent inscriptions that adorned it.
In the “Riyasha” area on the outskirts of the municipality of Nasiriyah (east of the state), another citizen, while excavating to complete a self-construction, found a coin containing more than 900 silver coins dating back to the “Zirid” period, inscribed with the word “Bulukin Abd al-Rahman.”
As for the “Titona” area on the outskirts of the Souq Al-Hadd municipality , another citizen found another archaeological masterpiece, which is a polished, box-shaped stone dating back to the ancient period, on the front of which there is an inscription representing a blacksmithing scene.
