“Activating the Amazigh language in the field of justice” is the focus of the Third National Forum for the Amazighs of Morocco in Rabat
The work of the National Forum for the Amazighs of Morocco has ended in its third edition, and it was organized throughout Friday, May 31, 2024, by the newspaper “The Amazigh World,” the “Rabat Bar Association,” “Friedrich Naumann for Freedom,” and the “International Amazigh Assembly” under the slogan: “Activating the Amazigh language.” In the field of justice.”
The National Forum for the Amazighs of Morocco, in its third edition, witnessed a large presence of lawyers from various bodies and activists of the Amazigh movement from various regions of Morocco, discussing constraints and challenges. As well as the institutional obstacles that prevent the inclusion of the Amazigh language in the justice system in light of what was stated in the regulatory law related to activating the official nature of the Amazigh language, which has entered into force since 2019.
Emphasis was also placed on “shortcomings, as well as changing some laws that still hinder the implementation of the officialization of the Amazigh language in the field of justice.”
The captain, Professor Aziz Rouibah, gave an opening presentation on: “The challenges and stakes of the regulatory law related to activating the official character of the Amazigh language regarding the integration of the Amazigh language into the Moroccan justice system.”
The evening period witnessed the organization of the national symposium on the integration of the Amazigh language into justice, moderated by Dr. Fatiha Ashtatou on: “The Role of the Family Code in Protecting the Rights of Amazigh Women,” and Dr. Mohamed Ashtatou on: “Amazigh Customary Law’ Its Integration into the Moroccan Judicial System.”
The meeting included a memorial service for the two late lawyers, the lawyer and professor Amghar Ahmed Al-Dagherni, and the lawyer and professor Al-Hussein Al-Malaki, in the presence of members of their families, with a speech in their honor by the professor and lawyer Hassan Idbelqasim.
The forum also comes in the context of the 23rd anniversary of the issuance of the first issue of the Amazigh newspaper, which continues to track and address the Amazigh issue in its various aspects, nationally and internationally.
