There are two major hydroelectric power stations on this river, and the Kariba Dam is located on this river, which provides electrical energy to both Zambia and Zimbabwe. The second dam is the Cahora Bassa Dam in Mozambique, which generates electrical energy for both Mozambique and South Africa. In addition, there is a small electrical power generation station on Victoria Falls.
The source or source of the river is in a black swampland in northwestern Zambia and in the dense parts of the Miombo Forest at an altitude of 1524 meters above sea level. In the eastern direction of the source there is the dividing line between the drainage basins of the Congo River and the Zambezi River in a belt of high land that suddenly drops to the north. And to the south, and flows east and west, and this cuts the drainage basin of the Luolaba River (the main branch of Upper Congo) Near the source, the drainage basin of this river is not clear enough to be determined, but the two river systems do not meet.

As for the region that is located within the drainage basin of the Zambezi River, it is a plateau with a wide breaking edge, 900-1,200 meters high. In the lower Zambezi, there are thin layers of gray-yellow sandstones with intervening limestones that are visible at the bottom of the river in the dry season. This It continues after the city of Tete, located on this river in Mozambique. There is also coal in the area below Victoria Falls, and veins of gold appear on these rocks in several places.
