A number of sailors from fishing vessels in Portugal said that they came across a rare shark dating back 80 million years and characterized by a huge number of teeth, off the coast of the European country.
According to the newspaper, “The Daily Star”, this shark, which reaches 1.5 meters in length, is often described as a “living fossil”, because it has changed slightly over tens of millions of years.
The rare shark, called the “Hedip”, was pulled from a depth of more than 2,000 meters under the water’s surface.
In the meantime, Portuguese researchers said in statements to the press that they are working in coordination with the European Union in order to avoid hunting undesirable species or others that need protection.

And this shark lived swimming in deep waters, while the dinosaurs were on the surface of the earth, and the “ciliated” was able to gain a strong jaw by fishing for squid and other species.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere said, in a statement, that this shark has a long and slender body, and it has a head similar to a snake.

The researcher at the Portuguese University of Algarve, Margarida Castro, said that the hummingbird shark is characterized by its many teeth, which number up to 300, and uses them to suddenly pounce on prey, according to Sky News Arabia.
Scientists do not know much about the numbers of this shark, because it lives at a deep level under the sea, where words of darkness and pressure intensify, with a very low temperature.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature lists the fringe shark as one of the “least of concern” species, but warns of the increase in commercial fishing in deep waters, which increases the risk of ships withdrawing the species by mistake.
