A study day in Rabat on “How to integrate the Amazigh language into the justice system”
The Moroccan Association for Research and Cultural Exchange and the Ibrahim Akhiyat Foundation for Cultural Diversity organized, Wednesday, May 25th in Rabat, a study day, in partnership with the Ministry of Justice, on the topic “Ways to integrate the Tamazight language into the justice system.”
A communication made it clear to the organizers that this school day comes within the framework of activating the official character of Amazigh within the justice system, after the issuance of Organic Law No. 16-16 related to determining the stages of activating the official character of Amazigh and the modalities of its integration into priority areas of public life.
The opening session was marked by the participation of representatives from ministerial sectors, official institutions and civil society associations, who stressed the importance of including Amazigh in the justice system, and that investing in technological development and accumulation in the field of translation and various dictionaries, especially those issued by the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture, can They are tools to facilitate the integration of the Amazigh language into the justice system, and that the formation of competent human resources still knows a noticeable shortage and requires more efforts to remedy the recorded shortage, through the concerted efforts of all concerned parties.
They also stressed the need to invest in the amendments that some laws will know about, such as the Civil Procedure Code, to work on introducing amendments that will help grant Amazigh the constitutional status stipulated in the Kingdom's constitution that is currently in force.
The communication recorded that this school day witnessed the organization of two workshops, the first through which the Ibrahim Akhyat Foundation for Cultural Diversity presented an electronic application that includes games dedicated to young people about rights and duties and some legal procedures in the Berber language, which was accomplished with the aim of bringing the field of justice in the Berber language to the emerging category and with mechanisms that are consistent with technological developments The second workshop was organized by the Moroccan Association for Research and Cultural Exchange on the importance of translating documents related to personal status into Tamazight with the submission of models, with the aim of encouraging other parties, whether government sectors, official institutions or civil society associations, to take similar initiatives and create a backlog in this field. .
The communication concluded that after the issuance of the organizational law related to defining the stages of activating the official character of Amazigh and the modalities of its integration into priority areas of public life, with the contribution of the executive and legislative authorities and a group of political and association activities, and despite the observations recorded by a group of components of the Amazigh cultural movement, the current stage requires consideration With the necessary seriousness in the ways and means of proper implementation of what was stated in the Organic Law No. 16-26, the justice system is one of the pillars of democracy and an essential component in the edifice of democratic transition in our country.
