An American company will drill a well with a depth of 20 kilometers to reach “clean energy”
An American startup said it has raised enough money to complete an amazing project that consists of digging a hole about twenty kilometers deep in the Earth's crust to collect the huge energy resources located there.
MIT's Quaise Energy has raised more than €36 million in funding to invest in the technology needed to drill one of the deepest drilling ever, the success of which could provide humanity with access to clean, nearly unlimited geothermal energy.
“We will need a massive amount of clean energy in the coming decades,” said Mark Kopta, one of the company's investors.
The company offers one of the most sustainable and scalable solutions on Earth. It is a perfect complement to our existing solutions enabling us to achieve truly basic renewable energy in the not too distant future.”
This technology will allow access to geothermal energy around the world and the project is expected to be put into operation in 2026.
