A unique discovery of the remains of a mammoth and its trunk
! fascinates researchers
Senior researcher at the Institute of Plant and Animal Ecology of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Pavel Kosintsev, revealed that scientists have found in Yamal the remains of a small mammoth.
Kosintsev said in a press conference that "this year we made a unique discovery of the remains of a mammoth that is no more than six years old and is in good condition. Scientists have found the largest part of its skeleton with the hose, and it contains the remains of soft tissues, fur, skin, eyes and ears. A mammoth of this age is in such good shape."
And he added, the first to find this mammoth were the local residents, who informed the Museum of Local Heritage in Tazovsky in the Yamal Nenets Autonomous Region. The museum organized a scientific expedition to the place where the mammoth was found, and some samples were taken for analysis.
The researcher continued, "Based on the results of studying these samples, we can restore the natural conditions in which this mammoth lived. Of course, the interesting thing is its trunk. It is true that scientists previously found mammoth trunks as well, but not among them the trunk of a mammoth of this age."
