Tasuqilt: artificial intelligence at the service of the mother tongue 11620
The Kabyle language (Tamazight) has a site dedicated to translation from French to Kabyle and vice versa. Tasuqilt, launched on the 18th anniversary of Mohia's disappearance, enables machine translation using artificial intelligence (AI). This didactic and linguistic tool aims to support education in the mother tongue.
Tasuqilt , a project aimed at strengthening the Kabyle language and Tamazight in general, has just been launched on the net. The idea came from Canada: a Kabyle father from Ottawa promised his daughter to make it easier for her to learn her mother tongue through the internet. Tasuqilt was born, a didactic and linguistic tool to fill the lack of automatic translators from and to Tamazight.
Tasuqilt is “a startup composed of a multidisciplinary team of computer scientists and linguists passionate about our mother tongue and the application of new technologies to the field of languages”, can we read in the presentation of the site.

Support mother tongue education
Its initiators are driven by the desire to strengthen the Kabyle language and Tamazight in general. Their objective is to “participate in the increase of works translated into Kabyle / Tamazight and to support education in the mother tongue”, it is specified.
In order to improve the translation quality of this tool, the promoters of this innovative project relied on bilingual and/or monolingual documents provided by linguists. The quality of the translation has already been tested by Internet users since its launch. These “tests” are satisfactory and attest to the reliability and effectiveness of Tasuqilt.
Mohia, “the founding father of Kabyle translation and adaptation”
The Tasuqilt team chose this December 07, 2022 for its launch in tribute to the late Mohia (01/11/1950 – 07/12/2004). This symbolic day, it should be remembered, corresponds to the date of disappearance of Muhend U Yehya, whose real name is Abdellah Mohia, "the founding father of Kabyle translation and adaptation", as indicated in the home page from Tasuqilt.
Indeed, Mohia is known for his countless literary works inspired by universal works that he has translated and adapted so well into Kabyle. Author, lyricist, playwright and poet of Amazigh expression, Mohia left behind him masterpieces, especially theatrical ones, fruits of his adaptations. “ Tacbaylit” , “ Sinistri” , “Si Pertuff” , “ Muhend U Caban” , among others, constitute the timeless work of the “famous unknown”, as described by his peers.

Various services offered
18 years after his death, Mohia's itinerary and artistic career is revisited each year by exhibitions, conferences and theatrical presentations. After the establishment of the “Mohia d'Or” prize for the best playwrights in Tamazight best playwrights in Tamazight in Algeria, a national tribute, “Tasuqilt” is another, this time, international!
