Foreign diplomatic bodies in Morocco commemorated the occasion of the Amazigh New Year 2973, which falls on January 13 of each year, through congratulatory messages on social media platforms on this occasion, which is called "January Metabolism" in some regions.
On Thursday, the US Embassy published on its Facebook and Twitter accounts a video clip of three embassy employees congratulating Moroccans on the advent of the Amazigh new year, commenting on the video with "Happy Amazigh Year" written in Arabic, English and Amazigh.

In turn, the embassies of Britain, France, Canada, Germany, Finland, Ireland and Switzerland in Morocco published congratulatory messages on the occasion of the Amazigh New Year, along with pictures showing the letters "Tifinagh" in which the Amazigh language is written.

The European Union delegation to Morocco also tweeted through its official Twitter account, writing, "Happy Amazigh Year 2973, best wishes for health and happiness," and attached it to a picture of the Ait Benhadou Kasbah in Ouarzazate, which it described as a "world human heritage."

This celebration coincides every year with the renewed demands of Amazigh and human rights activists in the country in order to adopt the Amazigh New Year as an official national holiday and a paid holiday, after more than 11 years have passed since the Amazigh language was codified.
