Tripoli, January 12, 2023 (LANA) - The Amazighs in Libya celebrate the Amazigh New Year (2973), which falls on January 13 of each year.
The Municipal Council congratulated the Amazigh visitors in Libya and all Libyans on the occasion of the Amazigh New Year, wishing that security and safety would prevail throughout the country.
The Supreme Council of the Amazighs of Libya had announced that today, Thursday, would be a holiday on the occasion of the Amazigh New Year, in all regions within its membership.
The council indicated in a statement that the decision was based on the decisions of the local government units of the Amazigh-speaking regions for the year 2012 regarding the Amazigh New Year holiday.

The Amazighs of Libya salute the Amazigh year with celebrations that carry many meanings that the Amazighs have clung to throughout their history, including pride in the land and its bounties, and keenness to coexist with other cultures and races.
Amazigh cities in several regions of Libya, which take this day as a holiday, witness celebrations whose atmosphere bears a joyful atmosphere mixed with ancient Amazigh customs and traditions inherited from ancient times.
Amazigh cities hold a number of cultural activities related to the Amazigh heritage. Including the preparation of traditional food, and the establishment of a range of entertainment activities and artistic parties, and other aspects of celebration.
