The US Military Shoots Down A Chinese Airship Off The Coast Of South Carolina 1-307
On Saturday, the US military carried out an operation to shoot down the Chinese balloon, which had been flying over the US sky for several days.
Video footage showed the moment a warplane shot down the Chinese airship off the coast of South Carolina, while US forces on the ground will begin an operation to recover the wreckage.
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the Chinese airship was shot down by a fighter jet off the coast of South Carolina.
Earlier, the Federal Aviation Administration announced that it closed the airspace in parts of North Carolina and South Carolina, to "support the Department of Defense in a national security effort."

And US media reported that President Joe Biden gave the green light to shoot down the balloon, indicating that warships and fighters had moved to the location of the balloon.
Since yesterday, members of Congress and Republican candidates for the 2024 presidential election have been publicly pressuring the Joe Biden administration to bring down the balloon immediately.
And the US President responded, on Saturday, to a question about whether the United States would shoot down the Chinese balloon, and said, "We will take care of it."
Biden was tempted to drop the balloon above ground when he was first informed of it on Tuesday, but Pentagon officials advised against doing so, warning that there was a potential risk to humans on the ground that outweighed the assessment of potential Chinese intelligence gains.

The "Chinese balloon" in the US sky has raised national security and diplomatic concerns, further straining relations between Washington and Beijing.
And the Ministry of Defense revealed, earlier, that the “balloon” does not currently pose a “military or political” threat.
