Khenifra.. Celebrating the ordination of the Amazigh year
The “Ayadina Association for Social Solidarity and Development in Khenifra,” in partnership with the “Amazigh Newspaper” on Saturday evening, May 13, 2023, in the conference room of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services, celebrated the royal decision regarding the approval of the Amazigh New Year as a national and official holiday.
The celebrants considered the royal decision “an embodiment of the generous care that His Majesty gives to the Amazigh language, as a major component of the authentic Moroccan identity, rich in its many tributaries, and a common asset for all Moroccans without exception.”
The festive evening was attended by a group of personalities from Khenifra and other destinations in Morocco. Amina Ibn al-Sheikh, advisor to the prime minister in charge of the Amazigh file, Rachid al-Rakha, president of the Amazigh International Assembly, Issa Aqawi, president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services and member of the Confederation Bureau of the Amazigh World Assembly and member of the Confederation Office of the Amazigh World Assembly, were honored. “Our Hands” Association, and Si Muhammad Dadi.
In her speech, the Prime Minister's advisor, Amina Ibn Al-Sheikh, praised the historic royal decision, and considered it a continuation of the royal institution's interaction with the demands of the Amazigh movement. I mentioned a number of important milestones in which His Majesty the King took historic decisions in favor of the Amazigh cause.
The speaker recalled the historic royal speech in Ajdir, through the establishment of the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture and the recognition of the Tifinagh letter, in addition to the constitutionalization of the Amazigh language in the constitution of the light of July 2011, leading to the demarcation of the Amazigh year as an official holiday for it.
Ibn al-Sheikh said that the current government, for its part, has taken a set of procedures and measures in favor of activating the official character of the Amazigh language and integrating it into all aspects of public life. . The advisor is supplied to the Prime Minister's office.
In turn, the head of the Amazigh World Assembly, Rachid Rakha, expressed his appreciation and praise for King Mohammed VI's approval of the Amazigh year as an official national holiday to be paid for it.
In his speech, Rakha considered this "wise decision" as a new building block for the restoration of the historical, cultural and civilizational symbols of the Moroccan people, and said, "Some are trying to dwarf the long Moroccan history and limit it to only 12 centuries."
And he added, in a sharp tone, “The Amazigh history is long and steadfast as these mountains revolving in this place.” In his speech, he mentioned “the great sacrifices made by the Amazighs in the Middle Atlas for the sake of their culture and identity,” and recalled “the historic battle of Lahri, which was led by Muha Ohamu Azian against French colonialism.”
Issa Aqawi, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services and a member of the Confederation Bureau of the Amazigh World Assembly and head of the “Aydina” association that organized the ceremony, also praised the royal decision, and considered it “a permanent and continuous interaction on the part of His Majesty the King with the Amazigh demands.”
Al-Aqawi, a member of the Confederation Bureau of the Amazigh World Assembly, mentioned a number of initiatives undertaken by the Amazigh World Assembly to demarcate the Amazigh Sunnah, including the last letter that was drawn up a few months ago at the Royal Court to demand the demarcation of the Amazigh Sunnah.
The head of the "Our Hands" association pointed out that the assembly has, over many years, corresponded with heads of government, parliament in its two chambers, political parties, parliamentary groups and the royal institution, and carried out "a field initiative and campaigns to correspond with various parties," until His Majesty the King responded to this demand.
The festive evening was marked by the organization of various musical and artistic performances by a group of local bands. Before the evening concluded with a dinner in honor of the participants in the festive evening of the King's historic decision.
