The International Book and Publishing Exhibition.. Two researchers explore the horizons of the novel in the Amazigh language 1354
The two researchers in the novel written in the Amazigh language, Fatima Firas and Ibrahim Mansoub, confirmed on Thursday, June 8 in Rabat, that this genre of the novel “foresees promising prospects” in the literary field in Morocco.
The two researchers highlighted, during a round table on the topic of “narrative experiences in the Amazigh language”, organized by the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture, within the framework of the 28th session of the International Book and Publishing Exhibition, that the pace of creativity in the field of the Amazigh language novel “began to accelerate after the royal high speech in Ajdir, and the establishment of the Royal Institute Amazigh culture, as well as the constitution of the Amazigh language in 2011.
And they considered that this type of creativity “has made significant strides, thanks to the policy of linguistic openness pursued by Morocco.”

In this regard, Fadma Firas said that Amazigh novels enjoy an important place within Moroccan society, and have promising prospects because “what is written is comparable to what is written in Arabic and French,” noting that the authors of these novels receive various awards that are awarded, in particular, by The Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture, the Association of Amazigh Writers “Tira”, or the Ministry in charge of the cultural sector.
She called for encouraging the novel in the Amazigh language because its writers have a rich experience, noting that this novel still suffers from problems that concern, in particular, the field of publishing and distribution, despite the accumulation and popularity it has achieved by Moroccan readers.

For his part, Ibrahim Mansoub said, "We have produced about 110 novels written in the Amazigh language in Morocco," noting that about 20 novels were produced in the southeast and the Middle Atlas.
And he considered that the novel in the Amazigh language deals with themes that preoccupy the Amazigh person, such as identity, resistance, and interest in the Amazigh culture and language, adding that “there is a novel by Ahmed Hadachi that is considered the longest in the Amazigh language, as it is 430 pages.”
It is noteworthy that the current session of the International Publishing and Book Fair is known for the participation of 737 exhibitors from 51 countries, including 287 direct exhibitors, and 450 indirect exhibitors, representing 51 countries, while the Quebec region will be the guest of honor at the session.
