On Thursday morning, July 6, 2023, the “Anarouz Association for Development and Cultural Communication” revealed the outlines of the activities of the fifth edition of the Tafsout Festival of Amazigh-Maghreb Cinema, organized under the slogan “Adrar and Cinema” during the period between 05 and 09 of this month, in Tafroat.

In a press conference prior to the official opening, the festival's organizers spoke about the general program of the current session's activities, which will witness the screening of a number of cinematic films, whether in the official competition, or in panorama shows and a local competition for amateur short tapes.
The general writer of the “Anarouz Association for Development and Cultural Communication,” Mohamed Benedir, reviewed the general program for the activities of the fifth session of the “Tafsut” festival, referring to the screening of the film “Ayur”, which won third place in the official competition for the short film CINEF during the 76th session of the last “Cannes” festival in France. He also talked about organizing a “master class” in the Tarsouat community in order to “bring cinema closer to villages far from the center,” in addition to organizing “an exploratory cinematic outing to the Ait Mansour oasis.”
Bneider referred to the organization of a round table to discuss "critical accompaniment to Amazigh television drama, especially Ramadan works that are popular with various social strata." Pointing out that the critical accompaniment aims to “advance the Amazigh drama and push it forward,” stressing in the context of his intervention that “the organizing association will continue to critically support the Amazigh TV drama in an academic manner so that it is worthy of attention.”

For his part, Khaled Aqili, head of the organizing association, touched on honoring the festival for a number of nationally known artistic faces, and it is related to film director Mohamed Bouzko from the countryside, actor Mohamed El Yazidi from Souss and actor Nasser El Madghry from Atlas.
He also touched on the jury for this session, which includes film critic Amina Al-Sibari, actress and director Majida Benkirane, in addition to film director Rachid Al-Hazmir.

Aqeeli referred to the distribution of prizes to the short films that won the official competitions and the local competition for short films for amateur films.
The speaker also praised the remarkable and balanced presence of a number of well-known faces in the Amazigh art scene, stressing the association's desire to develop the festival and make it an event that attracts various artistic and media events to Tafraout.

In turn, Kamal Al-Shahamat, the association's treasurer, explained that the absence of the cinematic caravan that was organized to neighboring villages and roundabouts in previous sessions is mainly due to an alternative initiative through which cinematic caravans are organized throughout the year.
Al-Shahamat confirmed that the association thought of “another formula, which is to organize this initiative throughout the year, to bring cinema closer to the simple citizen who lives in the mountainous areas of Tafraout.”

Kamal Al-Shahamat added, "This initiative will witness the participation of a number of well-known actors and artistic figures in the national arena."
