Finland: "The Country of a Thousand Lakes, the Country of a Thousand Nudes" A special photo session by an American photographer with the participation of a thousand nudes
About a thousand naked people gathered on Saturday night in the streets and beaches of the city of Kuopio in central Finland, at the request of the American photographer Spencer Tunick.
"Today, the country of a thousand lakes has become the country of a thousand naked," Tunick, who is known for filming huge nude gatherings, told AFP, while the volunteers were receiving instructions at night via a loudspeaker.
Participants first stood on the street, around a flower-decorated installation, then on the beach and in the water.
The artist explained that he wanted to make "the body in harmony with Kuopio and the lakes of northern Finland," expressing his deep appreciation for the volunteers who are ready to undress at night.
"It's very rare that the audience is given the opportunity to be involved in the creative process," added Spencer Tunick.

In November 2002, about 2,500 naked people gathered on a popular beach in Sydney, Australia, in an installation aimed at raising awareness of skin cancer.
It's called "Strip off for Skin" and it's in collaboration with an association that encourages Australians to see a dermatologist regularly for check-ups.

Spencer Tunick gained fame for filming similar nude gatherings in very famous locations around the world, in one of which more than five thousand people participated in front of the Sydney Opera House in 2010, while he achieved a record number of 18 thousand participants in 2007 in the Zocalo Square in Mexico City.
