The political statement for the indigenous peoples of Libya called on the Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Abdullah Batili, and the head of the UN mission, to review his initiative to resolve the Libyan crisis to include effective representatives of the indigenous peoples.

After appreciating “the efforts of the United Nations Mission, the Security Council, and brotherly and friendly countries in their efforts to support stability and peace throughout the Libyan territory,” the statement stressed that the inclusion of effective representatives of indigenous peoples in international initiatives “prevents the deepening of political gaps.”

The same source said, “The UN mission and the international community have responsibilities that require them to protect civilians and preserve the unity and territory of Libya,” stressing that “the homeland is not a spoil shared by the parties to the conflict.”
