King Khufu's boat
King Khufu's boat, nicknamed the Sun Boat, is the oldest and most beautiful boat in history, which took years to rebuild
• On the southern side of the Great Pyramid (Khufu), two excavations in the shape of a boat were discovered on May 26, 1954 AD by the Egyptian archaeologist Kamal Al-Malakh. They found dismantled wooden boats in them. One of them was extracted and the second remains as it is until now.
The pit is located 17 meters from the base of the Great Pyramid. It is 21 meters long, 2.60 meters wide, and 3.50 meters deep. The hole was covered with 41 blocks of limestone. The length of each stone is 4.80 meters, its width is 8 cm, and its height is 1.60 meters. The average weight of each stone is 16 tons.
Inside the hole, I found the sun boat, which has a different shape than this boat and was made of cedar wood. It was found, as we mentioned before, disassembled and was held together by wooden nails, hooks, copper clips, and ropes. The length of the boat is 43 meters, the height of the front is 6 meters, the stern is 7 meters, and its maximum width is 7 meters. 5.90 m and 1.78 m deep
•It consisted of 1,224 disassembled pieces that were restored and reassembled by the archaeological restorer “Ahmed Youssef.” It was displayed in its own museum next to the Great Pyramid, but it will be demolished because it is not compatible with the design of the ancient pyramids.
It was transferred to be displayed in a hall dedicated to it in the large museum that will be opened soon.
