France.. The Moroccan Consulate in Colombes celebrates the Amazigh New Year
Last Saturday, the Moroccan School of Colombes in the Paris region celebrated the Amazigh New Year, “January 2974,” in an atmosphere full of affection and joy.
This celebration, organized by the Moroccan Consulate in Colombia, in cooperation with the Parents Association of the Moroccan School in Colombia, was an occasion to highlight Amazigh culture and traditions, and provided the school’s students and their parents with an immersive Amazigh cultural experience imprinted with a spirit of pride in belonging to a nation steeped in history and a civilization that extends back thousands of years.
In a speech on the occasion, the Consul General of Morocco in Colombia, Heba Iraqi Hosseini, highlighted the cultural importance of this exceptional celebration of the Amazigh New Year.
In this regard, diplomacy highly praised the decision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to make January 14 an official national holiday, similar to the first of Muharram of the Hijri year and the Gregorian New Year.
For his part, the Mayor of Colombes, Patrick Šimovich, expressed his admiration for the diversity and richness of Moroccan culture, highlighting the importance of introducing this exceptional cultural heritage to the city.
He also stressed the city's continued commitment to the Moroccan community, stressing the importance that the latter has in Colombia.
For his part, the head of the Association of Parents of Students at the Moroccan School in Colombia, Lahcen Boubakri, pointed out that the institution celebrates, through this event, the Amazigh identity and culture, which is considered a national treasure and a common heritage that brings together all Moroccans.
Boubakri also noted the outstanding involvement of the students and teachers in making this event a success, adding that this celebratory moment will certainly remain stuck in their minds.
This event, which was also marked by the presence of local elected representatives and representatives of the Moroccan collective fabric in Colombia, included a rich entertainment program that included singing and theatrical performances highlighting Amazigh culture, as well as a workshop (coloring, calligraphy, puzzles, etc.) and handicrafts.
Traditional costumes were also celebrated during this event, allowing the audience to immerse themselves in Amazigh culture in all its aspects and manifestations. This celebration also provided an opportunity for attendees to taste various authentic Amazigh dishes.
