The head of the Ait Melloul community issues a memorandum to the community's civil status officers to facilitate the task of registering Amazigh names
The President of the Ait Melloul Community Council issued a memorandum of interest to the heads of collective civil status offices and officers, on facilitating the mission of male and female servientes who have requests to choose Amazigh personal names for their new births, in accordance with the implementation of the procedures approved by the Ait Melloul Communal Council in the plan to strengthen the official character of Amazigh in the territorial domain. According to the text of the memorandum, issued on January 18, 2024, this measure comes within the framework of the decision of the Supreme Committee for Civil Status authorizing Moroccans to name their children Amazigh names according to their choice. The first vice president of the Ait Melloul community, who signed the memorandum on behalf of the head of the community, said that this measure comes within the framework of strengthening the activation of the official character of the Amazigh language in the territorial domain of the community, and in implementation of the plan to enhance the activation of the official character of the Amazigh language in the territorial domain of the Ait Melloul community (2022-2027). , which was approved by the Ait Melloul Collective Council in the Council’s regular session for the month of October 2022, and which carries specific and measurable indicators that clearly show the results achieved and includes the methods and stages of integrating the Amazigh language into all aspects of collective life in a gradual and flexible manner, through five axes and forty 40 procedures. Stressing that this initiative also comes within the framework of national workshops related to the gradual activation of the official character of the Amazigh language. This is by strengthening communication in the Amazigh language, and developing its use in various fields related to the community’s services and specializations, as a common asset for all components of the community, citizens and companions without exception, in order to enable it to carry out its functions as an official language and a communicative language for a large group of Moroccan citizens, and to preserve the presence of its linguistic, cultural and civilizational symbols in the identity.
