Sidi Ifni: “Yak the Sea” and “You Will Not Dive Alone” win awards at the International Film and Sea Festival
The activities of the tenth session of the International Film and Sea Festival in the rural community of Mir Laft, Sidi Ifni prefecture, Guelmim-Oued Noun region of the festival concluded with the awarding of prizes to the winning films during a large ceremony held at the Cultural Revitalization Center, attended by filmmakers, representatives of the local authority and members of civil society.
During the closing ceremony, the artist Abdel Latif Atif and the artist Hamid Ashtouk were honored as tokens of appreciation for the great services they provided to art in general, and the spirit of the late association and political activist Latifa Al-Wahdani.
It also witnessed musical performances by the artist Jamal Ras Al-Darb, the artist Jamal Youba, and the artist Ahmed Aminu, while the film “You Will Not Dive Alone” was crowned with the grand prize in the documentary film category by director Fahd Al-Maimani, a lecturer in the Department of Photography at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences and a member of the Omani Cinema Society. The film “You Will Not Dive Alone” deals with the world of the deep seas and oceans and highlights the beauty of nature and marine life in the Daymaniyat Islands, the world that embraces rare creatures. The film tells the story of the Omani sailor Faisal Al-Yazidi and Ahmed Al-Busaidi and their close relationship with this magical world, as they share their experiences and adventures between land and sea.
The film delves into the details of this mysterious world and reveals different worlds under the surface of the water, with scenes that take the audience on an exploratory journey to discover beauty.
For reference, the film “You Will Not Dive Alone” won many awards, including two awards at the Al Batinah International Film Festival, and the first place award at the Al Dakhiliyah International Film Festival. The film was also selected to participate in a number of festivals, including the International Environmental Film Festival in the Federal Republic of Russia and the I. .Mother. That is, in the United Kingdom, the Saudi Film Festival, the Chefchaouen International Festival in Morocco, and the Kazan Festival in the Federal Republic of Russia.
While the Moroccan short film “Yak al-Bahr 7 Minutes” was crowned with the grand prize in the short film category, which approaches the theme of clandestine migration among a young generation inspired by the metropolis of the Atlantic Ocean, by its young director Yassine Samih from the city of Safi, and the film “Yak al-Bahr” for which the screenplay was written by the writer and artist The great Muhammad Aziz bin Saad, to the problem of clandestine immigration, which has almost become an unresolved dilemma for all cities, especially those overlooking the sea, such as the city of Safi, behind which stand immigration brokers who trade in human souls.
The activities of this session were launched last Thursday evening, and witnessed the participation of 11 short documentary films centered around documentaries, representing Tunisia, Syria, Algeria, the Sultanate of Oman, Spain and Russia, in addition to Morocco with three short films. Training workshops and open meetings were also organized, as well as activities. Various cultural and artistic events for young people during the activities of this edition.
The opening ceremony was distinguished by honoring actress Saadia Azkoun in recognition of her abundant contributions to the artistic field, and also honoring the young man Hicham Boumediene, an association activist in the region.
The jury for the Egyptian media documentary film was chaired by Imad Fawaz, and its membership included the lion of the Moroccan screen, the artist Hussein Bardaouz, the director Rashid Al-Hammir, and the Omani director Hamid bin Saeed Al-Amri.
As for the short film jury, it includes Portuguese director Julia Shovchinskaya as president, Moroccan artist Ahlam Elgman, photographer Dariusz Paciorek from Poland, and photographer Vladimir Peter Z from Belgium.
The director of the festival, Yuba Abubarka, highlighted that this cinematic event aims to strengthen and develop the tourist attraction of the region, as well as to consolidate environmental awareness among young people and the general population, given that the environmental issue is one of the current issues of global concern, in addition to training young people to take an interest in the cultural and cinematic industry.
It is noteworthy that this festival is organized in partnership with the Moroccan Film Center, the Mir Laft Collective Council, the Sidi Ifni Prefecture, the Regional Council, and the Guelmim-Oued Noun Regional Council.
