The history of wrestling goes back to prehistoric times in Mesopotamia as a religious sport to choose the right man for the fertile woman who leads the agricultural community, but it appeared as a secular sport around 2500 BC. Also, some figures and some walls in Mesopotamia had sculptures of players wrestling and competing with each other. Boxing then became a popular sport, as did wrestling.
Boxing is one of the sports practiced by the people of ancient Iraq since their earliest historical times. Ancient man learned it at the beginning of his life to defend himself and to develop his physical fitness so that he could confront the dangers of the life in which he lived.
