Revenge of Olga
Prince Igor Rurik, Prince of Kiev, was assassinated in 945 AD, by a tribe living in Eastern Europe called the Drevlyan tribe.
They bent two trees until they met, then tied him between them, then let go of the two trees, which led to his body being split in half and his blood scattered.
After his assassination, his wife, Princess Olga, assumed power, and the Drevlyan tribe sent its best men to persuade her to marry their prince, who aspired to rule Kiev and control its throne, and was not in love with her beauty.
Olga avenged her husband and buried these messenger men alive. Then she sent a messenger from her side to Prince Mal, the leader of the Drevlyan tribe, to inform him that she had agreed to marry him. She claimed that she had detained his best men to roam among her people in the streets in preparation for the news of her marriage to him, and she wanted more brave Drevlyan men.
His men arrived in her city of Kiev, to the queen's castle, which welcomed them and honored them, then imprisoned them in her castle, and ended their lives by burning them alive.
At this time, Olga planned a solemn funeral for her husband, in which she invited many of the Drevlyans and their soldiers. Tara's soldiers attacked the Drevlyans and slaughtered 5,000 soldiers who participated in the funeral.
With this, Olga eliminated the best men of the Drevlyans, and prepared with her armies to invade the Drevlyans in order to eliminate the rest of them, so she actually besieged them.
During the siege, the Drevlyans begged her to leave them alive in exchange for their honey production
She decided to pardon them in exchange for 3 pigeons from each house, so that she would be remembered in the Drevlians for what she did to their masters after her husband Igor was killed by them.
The Drevlians agreed to this condition and were astonished by it...but their astonishment did not last long. After handing over the birds, her soldiers tied a burning piece of cloth covered with sulfur, tied with a somewhat long thread, to the birds’ feet, and she left them to return to their nests in the farmers’ homes in the city to burn them completely.
While the people of the city were fleeing, Olga ordered her soldiers to arrest them. Some of them were killed and some became slaves
Thus, Olga wiped out an entire tribe in revenge for her husband, whom she adored, as the pages of history tell........
